"COUPONation" #4
South China Community Church - South China, ME

I just sent an email to the South China Community Church.

http://www.southchinacommunitychurch.org/missions.html

According to their website, they help 4 local families throughout the year with items such as "food, clothing, school supplies, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, birthday and Christmas gifts..."

Part of my email is as follows:

The items I am able to contribute (at least one of each to each of the 4 families) would include:
   Laundry soap
   Dish Liquid
   Toilet Paper
   Paper Towels
   Body Wash
   Shampoo/Conditioner
   Toothpaste
   Deodorant
   Cookie Mix
   Brownie Mix
   Fruit Snacks
   Progresso Soup
   Hamburger Helper
   Canned Veggies
   Cereal
   Granola Bars
   Cake Mix & Frosting
   Boxed Potatoes

This would be a one-time donation to each family as my goal is to find a way to reach every family in need in Maine.

If you are interested in contributing items to help with these 4 families, please let me know.  I will be making this COUPONation by the end of November 2011.

UPDATE 11/19/11:  I received a voicemail from the South China Community Church...they didn't leave a number for me to return the call, so I'm waiting for them to call again.  They are interested in the COUPONation, so it's a definite go...does anyone have any extra recyclable shopping bags they'd be willing to donate for this COUPONation?  I have a couple, but need at least 2 more.  Please contact me via email or FaceBook if you're interested in passing one or more along.  I'd like to be able to use bags for COUPONations like this if possible.

"COUPONation" #3
Augusta Food Bank - Augusta, ME

There was an article in the Morning Sentinel on Sunday 11/13/11 titled "Getting food is becoming a problem."

According to the article, they've had to "cut down on the amount of food" they are able to purchase because they "haven't been able to get the product."

I sent an email to augustafoodbank@gmail.com with a list of items I would like to donate:

"Progresso Soup - Hamburger Helper - Betty Crocker Boxed Potatoes - Cereal (some are sweetened) - Nature Valley Granola Bars - Green Giant Canned Corn - Betty Crocker Cookie Mixes - Betty Crocker Brownie Mixes"

If any of you would like to be part of this COUPONation, please let me know.  I plan to drop the items off by the end of December 2011.

"COUPONation" #2
Sgt. Aaron Rollins - Augusta, ME

Sgt. Aaron Rollins, a US Veteran, and his service dog, Mabel, currently live in a motor home located in the Sam's Club parking lot in Augusta. After reading his story in the Morning Sentinel I decided that he (or other displaced Veterans, if he so chooses) will be the recipient of my next donation.

My plan is to contact Sgt. Rollins to see if there are any items in particular that he or Mabel are in need of. If you, or someone you know, would be interested in contributing items as part of this "COUPONation" please contact me via FaceBook (Dondi Dexter) or email at MaineCouponFreak@gmail.com. If you are not able to donate items but would like to make a monetary contribution, please use the "Donate" button below. ALL monetary donations received will be used for this "COUPONation" only. Please submit a request via email if you would like your monetary donation to be used in a specific way.

Thank you all in advance!

UPDATE 11/14/11:  I stopped by Sam's Club yesterday and didn't see any signs of Sgt. Rollins.  Because I live and work in Winslow, I'm only in Augusta once or twice a week.  I plan to check again on Thursday evening...I'll keep you posted.

UPDATE 11/19/11:  My son, Dallas, and I stopped by Sam's Club this past Thursday...his truck and camper were there but all the lights were off so I'm assuming he was asleep.  We left a Maine CouponFreak business card on the windshield of his truck with my name and number and a brief message for him to contact me...I'll keep you posted.
